Welcome Visitors!

The University Library is designed to support the educational and research goals of the UWSP faculty, staff and students. However, the library is also open to the general public, and we encourage you to visit and utilize our resources.

Community Patrons

• If you live in Portage County, you can access our collection through the Portage County Public Library’s catalog
• You will need to obtain a Portage County Public Library card (if you do not already have one) to borrow materials from the University Library. The PCPL card can also be used to request University Library items to be delivered to one of the PCPL locations for your convenience.

Universal Borrowing (UW-System Patrons)

• If you work at or attend another UW college or university, you can access our collection using your UW institution’s identification card. The reciprocal agreement set up between all UW system libraries is called Universal Borrowing (UB). For more information, please visit our Universal Borrowing policy. 

Visitors to the Stevens Point Area

• If you are visiting the University Library and are neither a resident of Portage County nor a UW-System card holder, you will need to get a Guest Card if you wish to check-out resources. Guest Cards are available at the Main Circulation desk located on the Library’s first floor. You must be eighteen years of age and present a valid driver’s license or state identification card.
   
• If you are under the age of eighteen, you will need parental permission to use the University Library. Forms are available at the Main Circulation Desk.

Map and Parking Directions

Highway 10 from the West....

• Follow Highway 10 East past Junction City and then follow County HH into Stevens Point.  Turn left onto Hwy 66 East. Turn left on Fremont Street.
• Park in Lots X, Z, or R. 
• Vehicles with state, municipal, and federal government plates can park in any permit area.  Other guests must park in metered spaces only.

Interstate 39 from the East/North/South...
 

• Take Exit #159 and drive west on Stanley Street into the city. 
• Turn left on Fremont Street
• Park in Lots X, Z, or R. 
• Vehicles with state, municipal, and federal government plates can park in any permit area.  Other guests must park in metered spaces only.

Highway 10 from the East...

• Take Highway 10 West into Stevens Point, continue straight on Highway 66 West into Stevens Point.  Turn right on Fremont Street.

Student Transit Service the "Campus Cab" safely transports students from designated campus pick-up points to their residence, either on campus or within a 5 mile radius of campus on seven days a week from 8:00pm to 1:00am.  The Library is a primary pickup point.  Phone 346-3456 for a ride.
