On twelve of the thirteen UW campuses, more than 50% of accessibility web errors (within the "academics" data sets) pertained to the lack of alternative text for images. With 48%, the corresponding percentage for the UW-Platteville "academics" web pages was not far from the lot. The highest proportions of this type of error were found at the UW-Superior (99%), UW-Green Bay (98%), UW-Whitewater (88%) and UW-La Crosse (88%) campuses.
At most of the campuses, second in relative frequency was the lack of alternative text for hot spots on client-side image maps. Only the "academics" pages at the UW-Superior were free of this particular type of error. It occurred in highest proportions among the "academics" pages at the UW-Oshkosh (33%), UW-Eau Claire (28%) and UW-Platteville (27%) campuses.
On nine of the twelve UW campuses, these two types of accessibility errors, the lack of alternative text for images and for image-map hot spots, constituted over 90% of the "high-priority" errors identified by Bobby. At the UW-Platteville, missing frame titles were cited as a comparatively frequent problem (16%). Among the UW-River Fall "academics" pages, server-side images without alternative textual links constituted an comparatively high proportion (12%) of the overall accessibility problems.
