Every now and then, a withdrawn title needs to be re-cataloged. This happens when a missing title returns, or an exact replacement is ordered for a missing title.
To re-catalog a withdrawn title:
Pull the shelflist card from the Withdrawal File.
Search to see if there is a suppressed bib record in Voyager.
When there is no suppressed bib record in Voyager:
Go to OCLC:
i. Find the record by the OCLC number on the shelflist card
ii. Update holding
iii. Export record
In Voyager:
i. Add a 910 field with mm/yy to the bib record imported from OCLC.
ii. Create the holdings record and item record.
iii. Write the call number on the item and put on the barcode. Then send item to marking.
When there is a suppressed BRIEF bib record in Voyager:
a. Go to OCLC:
i. Find the record by the OCLC number on the shelflist card
ii. Update holding
iii. Export record
b. In Voyager
i. Overlay the suppressed brief record with the imported record and add a 910 field with mm/yy. Make sure the new bib record is NOT suppressed.
ii. Open the holdings record, UNSUPPRESS it, change the location, add the call number, and delete the ‡x note.
iii. Create item record.
iv. Write the call number on the item and put on the barcode. Then send to marking.
When there is a suppressed FULL bib record in Voyager:
a. In Voyager:
i. UNSUPPRESS the bib record
ii. Add a 910 field with mm/yy.
iii. Open the holdings record, UNSUPPRESS it, change the location, add the call number, and delete the ‡x note.
iv. Write the call number on the item and put on the barcode. Then send to marking.
b. In OCLC
i. Find the record by the OCLC number on the shelflist card
ii. Update holding
Discard the shelflist card.
