Monographs:
-- Search for appropriate record. Ask WIS DOCS librarian (Cathy Palmini) to assign a call number if needed. Include a copy of the OCLC record to work with.
Add call number in 086 if necessary. Add ‡2 widocs at the end of the field, if it isn’t there already.
Look record over for obvious errors, problems, etc.
Update holdings and export.,
Print copy of the record to search the name and subject authorities, if necessary.
Search the names and subjects in Voyager to see if we have authority records and to match the forms.
Search for and export authority records from OCLC, if necessary.
In Voyager:
Retrieve one record at a time.
Make changes to the names and subjects if necessary.
Set the preferences in options:
General:
Holding/Item default location: Wis Docs
Call Number Hierarchies: SuDoc
Item Defaults:
Item Type: GovDoc (US and Wis)
Now the call number transfers to the Holdings screen automatically when a holdings record is created.
Save record to database; overlay the brief order record in Voyager if necessary; add the appropriate OCLC number (035) to the brief record in Voyager and the overlay will occur automatically
Create a Holdings record (MFHD):
852 8 0 ‡b wisw #h [documents call number]
(NOTE: Change 3 to 8 in the first delimiter of 852.)
Barcode, create an Item record: insert barcode number; be sure Perm. Loc code is Wis Docs and Item Type is GovDoc (US and Wis).
