LOAN PERIODS
(for more
detailed information on loan periods, click here)

STACK BOOKS (books on floors 3-5):
- Undergraduate and Non-University Borrowers: four weeks with a
renewal of an additional four weeks if there is no hold on the book.
"A hold" means that another library user has requested the material.
- Graduate Students: four weeks with unlimited four week renewals as
long as there are no holds on the material.
- Faculty: until the end of the current term and may be renewed
after that date. Books must be returned promptly if anyone asks for
them after the first three weeks.
REFERENCE BOOKS:
Books located in the Reference Reading Room must be used in the
building during the day unless special permission is given by the
Reference Librarian. Those reference books that may circulate may be
checked out after 8:00pm until 9:00 the next morning.
IF THE LIBRARY CATALOG SAYS A BOOK IS
"NOT CHECKED OUT" AND YOU ARE UNABLE TO LOCATE THE BOOK ON THE SHELF...

Please ask us to check the books that are waiting to be shelved. If
we do not find it, we will put a "search" on it and notify you of its
status later.
IF THE CATALOG INDICATES A BOOK IS
"CHARGED"...

Ask us to reserve a book that is out. We can put a "hold" on an item
and notify you when it has been returned. We cannot tell you who has a
book out, but we will try to get it back before the due date in extreme
cases. You may wish to try UB.
RENEWALS
Renewals may be requested by phone (Extension 2540), or by e-mail:
libcirc@uwsp.edu
RETURNS
Materials should be returned to the areas from which they were
borrowed. Stack books and reference materials are returned to the two
slots to the right of the Main Circulation Desk. Materials returned
before or after hours may be returned to the outside book drops on
either end of the building. These drops are checked by Circulation Desk
personnel, who will return these items to the appropriate departments.
Items borrowed from the Reserve and Periodical Departments that are
returned before 9:00 a.m. will be delivered to those departments
immediately. However we cannot guarantee the materials returned later
will be taken to these areas promptly.
OVERDUE BOOKS & FINES...
- STACK BOOKS--10¢ per day per item
- REFERENCE BOOKS--$2 per day
- LOST OR DAMAGED BARCODE--$5
You will be fined for overdue, lost, or damaged materials. Fines are
payable upon return of materials, but the fines are not assessed until
the item is checked in. ALL FINES ARE PAYABLE AT THE MAIN CIRCULATION
DESK. Disputes involving fines are to be reconciled at the circulation
desk where the items were borrowed.
Two notices are sent for overdue items. Please notify us upon receipt
of an overdue notice if you believe the item was returned. Notices are
also generated for fines not paid when overdues are returned. You will
be billed for replacement costs plus the accrued fines if a book is held
thirty days past the due date. Failure to receive a notice does not
relieve the borrower of the obligation to return material on the due
date or to pay the fines accrued. A special fine may be assessed if
overdue material is held after a user is notified that another person
needs it.
ANYONE OWING FINES & FEES AMOUNTING TO $15 OR
MORE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED BORROWING PRIVILEGES UNTIL THE MATTER IS
RESOLVED.

In order to set up someone as a proxy, you must submit a written
letter or
e-mail
