Books located in the Reference Room may be checked out for 24 hours with permission by the Reference Librarian.
If the catalogue says an item is "not checked out" and it is not on the shelf, please ask at the Access Services (Circulation) desk on the first floor. If we do not find it, we will put a search on it and notify you of its status at a later date.
Renewals may be requested by phone (Extension 2540), or by e-mail: libcirc@uwsp.edu.
Book returns are available at the Access Services (Circulation) desk and two outside book drops, one at each entrance.
| Stack Books | $0.10 per day per item |
| Reference Books | $2.00 per day |
You will be fined for overdue, lost, or damaged materials. Fines are payable upon return of materials, but the fines are not assessed until the item is checked in. All fines are payable at the Access Services (Circulation) Desk. Disputes involving fines are to be reconciled at the circulation desk where the items were borrowed.
Email notices are sent for overdue items. Please notify us if you believe the item was returned. Notices are also generated for fines not paid when overdues are returned. You will be billed for replacement costs plus the accrued fines if a book is held 60 days past the due date. Failure to receive a notice does not relieve the borrower of the obligation to return material on the due date or to pay the fines accrued.
Anyone owing fines or fees amounting to $15.00 or more will not be allowed borrowing privileges until the matter is resolved.
Locked study cubicles on the fifth floor are available to faculty and graduate students. Applications are taken in the Library Administrative Office on the 5th floor and assignments made for a semester at a time. The group study rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors are for the use of patrons who need to confer without disturbing others. You may sign up for regular use of a room at the Access Services (Circulation) Desk. Any groups may use the study rooms during hours that they are not reserved.
The Group Computer Work Rooms on the 4th floor are for the use of groups of (2 or more) faculty, staff, and students who need to work on class projects without disturbing others. There is a limit of six hours per week per group. Printing is not available from these stations, users have to save their work or email it to themselves and print it out from a lab or office.
Groups may reserve the rooms and sign out a key at the Access Services (Circulation) Desk, First Floor. Two University IDs are required as security for the key. Any group may use the rooms during hours that they are not reserved. If you experience problems with the equipment, please contact the Information Technology Help Desk for assistance (346-HELP).
Students may suggest titles for the library to consider for purchase. Ask for order cards at the Main Circulation Desk.
Proxy patron status allows one patron to check out books under another patron's identification number.
Who needs such a strange thing? Professors who have assistants they wish to extend faculty privileges and any faculty/staff member who wishes to let someone else pick-up or checkout their materials for them.
In order to set up someone as a proxy, you must submit a written letter or e-mail to Access Services (Circulation). Include your name and UWSP ID number and the names and ID numbers of the people you would like on your proxy list. Also, include the date you want the proxy privileges to expire, i.e. the end of fall semester 2012.
Lost textbooks and personal items are kept at the Access Services (Circulation) Desk for a day or two and then returned to Text Rental or the campus Lost & Found at the University Center.
The public address system is used to clear the building at closing and in case of emergency. An emergency is defined as a situation in which property or human life are endangered.
