The University Library now offers laptops and carrying cases for 72 hour loan periods to all UWSP students. Please review the following important guidelines:
Checkout guidelines | Wireless/Off Campus Access | Late Fees
Replacement Costs | Software Guidelines | Help
Laptops
(Gateway models) may be checked out by registered UWSP students.
Laptops are checked out on a first-come, first-serve basis,
and require your student ID card. At this time, there are no
reservations or renewals.
Laptops are checked out for 72 hours and MUST be returned to the Main Circulation Desk.
Wireless and Off-Campus Access
Laptops
may be used with the campus wireless network or off campus. However,
they will not be allowed to connect to the wired campus network; in
computer labs nor in residence halls.
Directions for connecting on-campus and off-campus, along with instructions on using e-mail and instant messenger, are located on the desktop of the computer.
Students may load software in order to connect to the Internet as needed, or to use software that is not provided by UWSP.
Laptops will incur a $2.00 per hour fine on a prorated scale.
After five days, the laptop will be marked as lost. The student will be charged a $1500 replacement fee for the laptop, and a $100 replacement fee for the carrying case.
A replacement cost of $1500 will be
charged to the student’s tuition account when a laptop is damaged
beyond repair or stolen while loaned to the student.
Costs for repair of damages or replacement of missing parts will be billed to the student’s account per a completed IT (Information Technology) work order
