Copyright restrictions

The Reserve Collection is on the first floor of the University Library adjacent to the Main Circulation Desk. The collection is comprised of hard copy and electronic materials and is meant to provide students with course-associated required or recommended materials as requested by classroom instructors.  The electronic materials are stored and accessible from personal computers with Internet access and Adobe Acrobat Reader software.  The hard copy items circulate for shorter periods of time than the general library collection to allow access to all who need them.  The collection includes books, articles, CDs, software, audiotapes, etc.

E-RESERVE

Electronic reserve allows students to access their class E-Reserve readings and audio materials from remote locations.  Current access to the system is limited to faculty and to UWSP students enrolled in courses that use electronic reserve.  To access E-Reserve from the Library home page, click on E-Reserve under Library Services.

Faculty:  Please consult Electronic Reserve Guidelines for procedures for placing materials on electronic reserve.

Returning Reserve items

Return reserve items to the Reserve Book Drop, near the Reserve Collection on the counter near the checkout station.

Overdue Materials and Fines

To encourage the prompt return of Reserve materials, which are in high demand, the fines are more stringent than in other parts of the Library:

Loan Period

Overdue Fine

2-HOUR (overnight) materials 1¢ per minute
1-day $2.00 per day overdue
3-day $2.00 per day overdue
7-day $2.00 per day overdue

You will be fined for lost or overdue materials. If you have lost materials you borrowed from the Reserve collection, you will be billed the replacement cost of the item plus a processing fee. Overdue notices are sent out shortly after the material is due. Failure to receive a notice DOES NOT relieve the borrower of the obligation to return the material, or to pay the fines that have accrued. At the end of each semester, all delinquent fines are turned over to the cashier.

Photocopies

A photocopier is located near the Reference Desk on the first floor and others are available throughout the Library. You are permitted to make photocopies of Reserve materials as long as you don't exceed the limits of the Copyright Law. Guidelines are posted near the photocopier.

IMC RESERVE

Videos and DVDs may be placed on reserve in the Instructional Materials Center, third floor of the Library.  Contact Gail Allen (346-4246) for IMC reserve information.
