Other Library Instruction
The Library also provides instruction in a number of other ways:
-
We assist and
instruct our users with library research questions through our
reference services.
-
We offer
one-on-one sessions to UWSP faculty, staff, and students working on
advanced projects. If you wish to schedule such a session,
please contact a librarian to make
an appointment.
-
Periodically, we
offer open sessions introducing new tools and resources. These
sessions will be announced on our homepage and through the UWSP
Message of the Day.
-
Upon request, we
provide sessions on specific library resources to community
organization. If you wish to schedule such a session, please contact
the Library Instruction Coordinator.
-
We currently
offer three sections of Library Resources 101, an introductory
course entitled “Effective Use of
the Library Resources.”
The purpose
of this course is to teach students how to become proficient and
discerning in using print, electronic, and other library resources
to obtain relevant information. This is a pass/fail, one credit
course.
-
Depending on
demand, we offer a section of CIS 102, a course entitled “The
Internet: Accessing & Evaluating Information.”
-
Our archivist
teaches History 399 “Independent Study: Introduction to Archival
Principles and Practices” Please contact
Ruth Wachter-Nelson
for more information about this independent study.
-
The
Library faculty has also created a number of helpful
resource guides.
If you have any questions, please contact the Library Instruction
Coordinator.
