Section 3: Tuesdays & Thursdays: 11:00-11:50 a.m. (Jan. 22 - March 13, 2008)

This class will be taught partially online, with one class meeting time replaced by online instruction using Desire2Learn (D2L).  Schedules and most course materials are posted on D2L.  Face to face class sessions move to different locations in the Library throughout the semester.  Please consult your syllabus before each class.

Purpose of this course: To become proficient and discerning in using print, electronic, and other library resources to obtain relevant information.

GROUND RULES: This course is pass-fail only. Attendance is mandatory. To pass, students must attend all classes and complete all assignments.  Unless otherwise instructed, assignments must be handed in on paper and in person (not through D2L).

In the event of a true emergency and you cannot come to class, it is your responsibility to initiate contact with the instructor for necessary arrangements.  A missed class must be made up by the student during the instructor's office hours (see above), and the student must also satisfactorily complete the regular assignment as well as additional make-up assignments.

Students with perfect attendance (excluding made-up sessions) and 100% satisfactory and timely completion of all assignments will be exempt from taking the final exam.

Materials: You are not required to purchase any materials for this course.

Plagiarism:  Students are responsible for reading and understanding the University's Policies on Academic Misconduct (see chapter 14, pp. 5-10).  Please also visit the Library's guide on plagiarism available through the Virtual Reference Desk.
