New LRC Elevators Being Installed
New
elevators are being installed in the University Library and the Learning
Resources Center during the academic year 2003-04. The public elevators
will be replaced beginning Monday, July 21. The completion of the public
elevators will be on December 4. The staff elevator, to be used as the
public elevator during the fall construction, will be replaced early in the
spring semester of 2004, with completion scheduled for March 11.
The elevator construction is being done by Braun Elevator Company of Madison, with the Ellis Stone Construction Company of Stevens Point and Wausau serving as the general contractor.
The tentative construction timetable is:
Public Elevators:
July 21: The Southwest Stairwell will be closed to the staff and public until December 4.
July 21 - September 15: Demolish/dismantle elevator cab and components.
August 4 - August 29: Enlarge elevator door openings and install new frames (concrete sawing will occur 8/4 - 22, VERY NOISY PERIOD).
September 16 - December 4: Install new cars.
Staff Elevator:
December 5: Northeast Stairwell closed to the staff until March 11.
December 5 - December 30: Demolish/dismantle elevator cab and components.
December 12 - January 7: Enlarge elevator door openings and install new frames (concrete sawing will occur 12/12 - 22, VERY NOISY PERIOD).
January 2 - March 11: Install new car.
How do I get around during the construction?
During construction, the Southwest Stairwell will be closed from July 21 - December 4. Access to floors during this period will be as follows:
