The Library is proud to announce the receipt of the 34-volume set, The Dictionary of Art, published by Groves' Dictionaries. It is cataloged and classified at N31 .D5 1996, in the Reference Department. It has received glowing reviews in both the scholarly and mainstream press. It covers countries both within and outside the western tradition, and it includes all the visual arts in a wide range of contexts: social, economic, political, historical, and cultural. There are 41,000 articles; more than 6,802 contributors; 15,000 illustrations; and 300,000 citations in the bibliography. The Index volume contains 720,000 entries.
