Index to the Stevens Point Journal

The Index to the Stevens Point Journal is now available on the Web. The Index is a joint project of the University Library and the Portage County Library. Coverage of the Index is 1992-97, with staff at both libraries contributing to the database. Articles indexed include state and local news. Obituaries, sports, police reports, and social or cultural events are not included.

The daily (except Sunday) Stevens Point Journal was titled the Stevens Point Daily Journal from 1895-1981. A weekly newspaper titled the Stevens Point Journal (titled The Point from 1870-71) appeared from 1870-1921.

At the University Library, the latest 2 weeks of the Journal are shelved in the Current Periodicals/Newspaper area on the 2d floor. The current issue is kept at the Periodical Desk. Issues from 1895- are on microfilm in University Archives on the 5th floor of the University Library.

The Portage County Public Library maintains current issues on the current periodicals shelves, with issues from 1895- available on microfilm (M 070 Ste Microfilm).

The Stevens Point Journal Index was formerly available only through the campus menu system, Oriel. With this move to the Web interface, access through Oriel will no longer be provided. To locate the Journal on the UWSP Web, select:
