This database is continuously updated to ensure accurate, up-to-date information connecting callers to local services, agencies and groups.  A similar service for Wood County  is First Call for Information -- Wood County and for Marathon County First Call -- Marathon County.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Portage County
Seeks to build positive mentoring relationships between youth and professionally screened, caring adults to enhance lives by sharing rewarding and fun-filled experiences..

Boy Scouts -- Samoset Council
The mission of the Samoset Council has been to provide the necessary support services to ensure the success of our districts and the Scout units they support.

American Library Association 50 Great Sites for Parents and Children
Websites for parents and children recommended by librarians from around the country.

BabyCenter
BabyCenter offers useful information for new and expectant parents. Among the many features are bulletin boards to share insight and advice, an interactive baby namer, preconception calendars, news, articles, and an "Ask the Experts" column.

ChildStats.gov
ChildStats.gov is the official Web site of the Federal Interagency Forum on Child and Family Statistics. The Forum was created to foster coordination and collaboration in the collection and reporting of Federal data on children and families. They offer crucial reports, statistics and links to related sites with Federal data.

Family Village: A Global Community of Disability-Related Resources
The Family Village brings together information, resources and communication opportunities on the Internet for people with mental retardation and other disabilities, for their families, and those who provide services and support. The online "Library" has a "Card Catalog" to look up information on specific diagnoses. From the Waisman Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

National Center for Missing & Exploited Children CyberTipline
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to locating missing children and raising public awareness about the prevention of child abduction, molestation, and sexual exploitation. Their site offers online report forms for incidents of exploitation, a missing children database, news, resources and success stories.

National Child Care Information Center
Established by The Child Care Bureau of the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services to promote child care linkages and serve as a mechanism for supporting quality services for children and families.

Parentsoup
Describing itself as a community this site offers discussion groups, chat rooms, a baby name guide, articles and resources on a variety of issues with which parents are concerned. Parents contribute as well as “experts”.

Preventive Ounce
This interactive site presents questionnaires that allow parents to identify their child’s temperament clearly and then find parenting techniques that work for that child. Covers ages infant to five years. Eventually will cover to age 12.

Special Needs Adoption Network
The Special Needs Adoption Network acts as an information center bringing together waiting children, their adoption agencies, and families looking to parent children with special needs. Their web site offers information on the special needs adoption process in Wisconsin, as well as a database of available children, news, and feature articles.

Access America for Seniors is a government-wide initiative to deliver electronic services from government agencies and organizations to seniors. Visitors can utilize a number of services, including comparing Medicare health plan options, comparing nursing homes throughout the U.S., and receiving estimates of social security benefits.

Administration on Aging
U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services webpage offers information about AoA and its programs, as well as legislation and statistical information of interest to older adults.

The Age Page
This Wisconsin Dept. of Health and Family Services site provides links to programs and resources for older people and their caregivers in Wisconsin.

AgeNet
AgeNet is an information and referral network for aging parents and their adult children. The site provides information on a number of topics, including geriatric health and drugs, legal and financial resources, insurance, helpful products and caregiver support.

American Association of Retired Persons
Features information for retirees on numerous topics including health, housing, travel, insurance and consumer issues.

Elderhostel Home Page
Includes an online catalog of their educational adventure programs for retirement age individuals.

Offers information, news, and legal help, particularly to older persons of limited income.

Features resources that include financial, health, travel and consumer information, as well as senior “chat rooms” and magazines online at the Senior News Network.

Senior Law Home Page
Helps senior citizens, their families, attorneys, social workers, and financial planners access information about Elder Law, Medicare, Medicaid, estate planning, trusts and the rights of the elderly and disabled.

SeniorLink
Offers access to eldercare professionals, programs, providers, facilities and agencies that provide information on a variety of senior related services.

SeniorNet
Provides adults 55 and older with information and instruction about computer technologies. Seniornet also offers roundtable discussions on hundreds of topics and hosts book clubs you can join online.

Seniorsearch
Search engine and directory devoted to topics of interest for people over the age of 50.

Wisconsin Association of Homes and Services for the Aging
Offers links to not-for-profit corporations principally serving the elderly and disabled.

Wisconsin Medicare Part B
As the Medicare Part B carrier for the state, the Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corporation offers a webpage dedicated exclusively to the program. The site answers commonly asked questions, allows access to the Medicare Part B policy manual, features information for Wisconsin providers, and resource links.

Wisconsin Parkinson Association
