BOOK SALE July 16 & 17

The annual Book Sale will be held during Crazy Days, Thursday & Friday, July 16 & 17 in the Pinery Room of the Main Library. 

Hours for the sale will Thursday from 8:30 am - 7:00 pm and Friday from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm.  As usual, shoppers should only enter and exit the sale by the Main St. doors to the Pinery Room.  There will be lots of selection and bargains.

Face painting will be provided courtesy of the Volunteens.

PROJECT FRESH START
Portage County Public Library will be a collection site for Project Fresh Start materials. 

Project Fresh Start  is the program that collects school supplies for eligible Portage County students in grades K-12.  Eligible means that the students qualify for the free or reduced price lunch program.

The Library will have a collection box  on the first floor of the Main Library to receive donations from Monday, July 13 until Monday, August 17.  Materials will then be taken to a drop-off site and supplies will be distributed to the students on August 22 & 27. Last year more than 800 students received school supplies.  The need is still great.

 Please help make Project Fresh Start a success this year.
COLLEGE PREPARATION PRESENTATION
Monday, July 6, 7:00-8:00 pm, Pinery Room. College Preparation Presentation

Chrissy Wysocki, College Access Advisor, will address students and parents about preparing for college. 

She will discuss College Prep, Financial Aid, Scholarships, Comparing Award Letters, filling out FAFSA forms, forecasting Financial Aid offers, and ACT/SAT Test preparation.

This will be an opportunity for students and their parents who were not able to attend a similar presentation during the regular school year.

All are welcome to attend this free program.
BOOK READING/SIGNING
Thursday, August 13, 6:00-8:00 pm, Pinery Room, Book Reading / Signing

Arthur Rathburn, author, will read from, and discuss his new book that he co-authored with his wife, Ursula.

The book No More Tears Left Behind is about Eva Deutschkron, a Holocaust survivor, who immigrated to America with her husband.  They became successful business owners, settling in Madison, WI.

Copies of the book will be available for sale.

The Rathburns previously spoke at PCPL.  They were at the library in December 2007 to discuss their book about former Stevens Point resident, Manfred Donath.

The program is free and open to the public.
