- Youth events at the Library: Upcoming events for youth at
the Portage County Public Library.
- America Links Up: A Kids Online Teach-In: The
Portage County Public Library participates in a national campaign to
encourage and support educational events in communities across the
country to foster an understanding of the Internet and encourage the
use of quality content in this new medium.
- KidSites: The staff recommends these
Internet sites for parents, children, and young adults
- GetNetWise: Offers links to
recommended sites, including the American Library Association's 700+
Great Sites: "Amazing, Spectacular, Mysterious, Wonderful Web
Sites for Kids and the Adults Who Care About Them," In addition
to information about blocking software. Visitors will also find a
glossary of Internet terms, a guide to online safety, directions for
reporting online trouble and a directory of online safety tools. The
GetNetWise coalition wants Internet users to be only "one click
away" from the resources they need to make informed decisions
about their family's use of the Internet.
