For
the Love of Postcards is a compilation of postcards from the
collection of the late John Anderson, who was director of UWSP's News
Services for 27 years. The book was published for the benefit of
the Community Foundation of Portage County. The book contains 122
historic postcard reproductions that show scenes of Portage County’s
past from part of the collection owned by his widow, Judy. John
Anderson collected 18,000 postcards during his lifetime. The
photographs are supplemented with text written by George Rogers, former
editor of the Stevens Point Journal.

That Grew, Volume I: A Guide to Old Houses of Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Wendell Nelson is a Librarian at the Portage
County Public Library, and former faculty member at Winona State University
and the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. Long interested
in local history, Nelson has penned articles on old houses and hotels
for the Stevens Point Journal and the Portage
County Gazette. Photographs in
Houses That Grew are by Patti Warner, Tom Kujawski, and the author.

background photo, looking North on Division Street, is the present location of one of
Stevens Point's most popular ice cream spots, Belts' Soft Serv. The photo is not
dated.
