As part of a 2-year agreement (2025-2026) between Springer Nature Publishing (Springer) and the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA), UWSP corresponding authors are now eligible to publish open access in eligible Springer journals without having to pay article processing charges (APCs). The agreement allows read access to over 2300 Springer journals and uncapped open access publishing by UWSP corresponding authors in eligible Springer hybrid journals. Nature branded journals and 100% open access journals are not included in this deal.
By publishing research in eligible Springer journals, the article will become immediately open and available for free to the public and contribute to a more equitable scholarly ecosystem. Articles published under this agreement by UWSP authors will be accessible by anyone, anywhere, regardless of individual or institutional abilities to pay access costs. Authors retain rights to their work through a Creative Commons license (CC BY).
