Celebrate Poem in Your Pocket Day!
Pick a poem, carry it with you, and share it with a friend, family member, colleague, or even a stranger.
This year, we’re excited to announce that thanks to a WiLS Ideas to Action grant, we expanded our Poem in Your Pocket Day beyond the library walls to the Central Wisconsin region.
Join the UWSP Libraries and our community partners for this special celebration! Don’t have a poem? No worries—we have plenty available at our libraries, partner locations, and online through this digital guide.
Poem in Your Pocket Day is a fun and meaningful way to explore the poetry collections at the UWSP Libraries, other university libraries, as well as your local public or school libraries.
Created by the American Academy of Poets for National Poetry Month, this day encourages everyone to connect, engage, and inspire through the simple act of sharing a poem.
Make this day memorable for someone (and for yourself) by carrying a poem and spreading a little poetry joy!

| ASHER A. SHROEDER (L): My name is Asher! I’m a freshman at UWSP at Wausau, and I was born and raised here. I don’t have a declared major, but I love to write and study/analyze human behavior. Since I was young, I’ve been a writer, and I especially love writing poetry. I’m influenced most by e.e. cummings and Sylvia Plath. To fuel my creativity, I’m a member of MUSH and I’m taking creative writing. |
ZOIE T. DINEHART (R): My name is Zoie! I'm an English Ed and English Writing, Editing, and Publishing Major with minors in Creative Writing and Linguistics. I have loved poetry since first learning about it in elementary school and I'm thrilled to be the treasurer of the Rising Voices Poetry Club. I encourage everyone to give poetry a try – there are so many different styles and poems about just about every imaginable topic! |
