The Archives is always available to assist with research questions. Archives staff provide reference services and research assistance to all University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point students, faculty, and staff free of charge.
Community members and the general public are always welcome to visit the Archives to do research. Archives reference staff are happy to help community members identify useful collections and get started with their research. However, we may charge a fee for more in-depth research requests.
For all research fees, please note that the fee pays for the time reference staff spend working on the research question. We will provide copies of the requested records if available, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to locate the requested records.
To order copies of naturalization records, obituaries, or vital records, print and complete the corresponding request form and mail it with payment to the mailing address listed on the form. All checks should be made out to UWSP Archives. Once payment is received, we will search for the records and provide a digital or paper copy if we find them.
Other research requests generally start at a research fee of $20 which may increase depending on the complexity of the request and the amount of time it takes to find the relevant information. Please email us at archives@uwsp.edu about these types of requests before sending payment so we can determine a fair research fee in advance.
